To view Jill’s work in person, visit the lobby of the previous Camera One building at Broad and 6th.

Jill Thomson received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Concordia University in Montreal.  Originally from Iowa, she spent her childhood in small towns and on farms in Nebraska, and at eleven moved with her family to Montreal.  In 1989, she moved to Edmonton were she is currently living with her partner, Bruce and their three children.

As an artist and mother of three she is connected to community and at the same time, sheltered in the precious cocoon of birth, creative play and beginning places.  Listening to her sisters at work (they are jazz artists) she is reminded of the intense concentration and privacy of solos amidst the powerful conversation of jazz.  Her Dutch heritage inspired here to elevate and illuminate the everyday life activities of music making, childhood play, dinner conversation, inside the greater context of neighborhood and the world beyond.
